I agree, Terry. Christian love has become so malleable that God's initial acceptance of us as sinners is now construed as his continuous affirmation and blessing. Yes, God receives us, "Just as we are, without one plea," but He doesn't leave us there. Thanks be to God, we "...are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit." (2 Corinthians 3:18, NIV). As Charles Wesley penned it:
"Changed from glory into glory,
till in heav'n we take our place,
till we cast our crowns before Thee,
lost in wonder, love, and praise." (Love Divine, All Love's Excelling," Charles Wesley, 1747)
Thanks for listening/reading, Terry. Every Blessing!
It occurred to me while listening that perhaps Christians, knowing that our main commandment is to love, mistakenly don’t stand up and speak up when we should. Sometimes truth is slowly uncovered. The Global Methodist Church - leaving in love- demonstrates this.
