Dearest Subscribers to “The Church’s One Foundation.”
Many of you over the last several weeks have made a donation to help create my new one-man show, “The Odyssey of King David.” Thank you! Other subscribers have expressed interest, so I’m providing you an opportunity again to contribute to this new and exciting play.
Below is a copy of my most recent UPDATE sent out to our current donors of the GoFundMe campaign. Thanks for taking a few moments to read it, and thanks for anything you may feel prompted to contribute. With your help and God’s blessing, we’ll make our goal of $15,000 and this long-held dream of bringing the iconic King of Israel to life will become a reality!
With Deepest Thanks For You!

Dear Friends,
The summer doldrums are coming to a close and several contributions have arrived in the last few days with more to come! Thank you for holding steady during the dry days, and I am encouraged and dedicated to seeing the fundraising campaign for "The Odyssey of King David" through to a successful conclusion.
This past Sunday, a dear, old friend of mine, the Rev. Paul Moore, founder of the Lamb's Ministries in NYC, passed away at 83 (see photo below). He was one of those "dare-saints," gracious and bold in his witness to the faith (remember the “Try Jesus” Tiffany pins? Paul’s idea!), and creative in his "caring" ministries, which aided millions in desperate need around the world. When I was 33, Rev. Paul challenged me to do a one-person play on the life of John Wesley, which I subsequently did, performing the show in dozens of churches, colleges, seminaries, and theatres around the country. It was an unparalleled experience (particularly after a tedious season on the "The Edge of Night" soap opera!), inspired, as I was, by Wesley's extraordinary life of ministry and service. As I write this update, Paul's funeral is today (Friday, Aug. 29), and Horatio's words to a dying Hamlet come to mind: "Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night, sweet prince, And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!" (Hamlet, Act 5, Scene 2).
And now, nearly fifty years later, almost in way of a homage to the good Rev. Paul Moore, I am creating a play on the humble shepherd boy who became the extraordinary King of Israel--"A man (for all of his failures) after God's own heart"--King David of Israel! A crown and a cane will be my two main props as I play the elder David looking back on his often broken yet blessed life, but I need your help, dear friends, to bring it to the stage. Thank you in advance for considering a donation to the staged production (and an audio/play version!) of "The Odyssey of King David." The link below will easily direct you on how to donate, and every gift, regardless of size, will be gratefully received. Again, for those of you who have already given, a "thank you" is hardly adequate, but it is a heart-felt thanks for your graciousness and belief in me and in this project.
Pressing On!
D. Paul
